• Proof of Vaccination: All participants who are residing in TWC housing or living independently in Washington, D.C. and participating in-person in any aspect of our summer program: 

  • Are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their arrival in D.C and to upload a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination card (including proof of booster shot, if eligible) to Canvas by Wednesday, April 20. Please review our complete COVID-19 vaccination policy. 

  • Are required to provide proof of a negative PCR test received within 72 hours of their arrival in Washington, D.C.

• Check-In Dates: Check-in will be staggered over a three day period from June 1 – 3 (with select schools checking in over the weekend), so you’ll select a specific time when you and one other person can move your belongings into the building.  

  • You and anyone arriving with you will undergo a no-contact temperature check upon arrival. Anyone showing a high temperature or other symptoms will not be allowed to move in and will be asked to return after testing negative for COVID-19.

  • Anyone arriving with you must provide the following in order to enter the building: proof of full vaccination (including a booster shot, if eligible) against COVID-19 and a government ID.

• Orientation: Housing orientation will run virtually each evening for those who checked in on that day. Anyone who does not attend an evening orientation must attend our final orientation on Monday, June 6, whether they have checked in or not (this includes anyone with a delayed arrival for any reason). 

Once you arrive in the nation’s capital, you may be working with your internship site remotely, in-person, or on a hybrid schedule (remotely on some days and in the office on other days). This will depend on your internship’s working status, so it's important to discuss work hour and location expectations with prospective internship sites as you progress through the internship selection process.

As you may know, students take an academic course and engage in Career Readiness Programming as part of their TWC experience.  

Academic Courses: TWC will offer academic courses both in person and online. Courses will take place on week nights, Monday through Thursday. 

Career Readiness Programming: TWC will offer Career Readiness Programming both in person and online. You’ll have the opportunity to work one-on-one with your career advisor, attend networking events and engage in a group-oriented professional development series in person.  

You’ll also have access to a range of online, on-demand professional development workshops, which you can choose based on your interests. Past professional development workshops have included Professional Goal Setting, Negotiating Salary and Benefits, Professional Branding, Writing a Federal Resume and Virtual Networking.  

TWC has implemented the following COVID-19 Community Living Guidelines for our Residential and Academic Facility (RAF):

• If you plan to reside in TWC housing, you must have health insurance and provide your policy information upon request.

• Most residents will live in a quad-style apartment, sharing a bedroom with one person and common space with two suitemates.

• You'll be required to wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth in certain fully enclosed common spaces (as posted in the facility) and during interactions with TWC staff. We recommend you use N95, KN95, KF94 masks or double mask; gaiters, buffs and bandanas are not permitted.

• You may be required to participate in mandatory COVID-19 testing during your stay in TWC-provided housing.

• If you test positive for COVID-19, you will be required to isolate and follow the quarantine timelines as directed by TWC staff. Due to the unique nature of TWC’s housing arrangements, guidelines and directives may differ from local guidance.

• TWC will set and enforce capacity limits for certain shared spaces, including elevators, the computer lab and the fitness center.

• TWC will enforce a modified guest policy for the summer. No external guests are allowed for the first two weeks of the term. After the first two weeks, you may host one guest (internal or external) at a time, permitted apartment occupancy never exceeds 6 people in total (capacity limits may be lower for apartments with lower standard occupancy).

• Non-TWC guests will be required to submit proof of COVID vaccination and booster (if eligible) before being approved to enter TWC’s housing facility. Non-TWC guests must also show proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of their arrival.

• Select common areas will be available as socially-distanced remote work spaces for use between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., as apartments do not have a desk (they include a kitchen table and coffee table in the common area). More details will be provided at check-in.
