Communications Students Join a Global Professional Community

Each fall, about twenty students from the Emerson University School of Communications arrive in D.C. for a global communications experience they could only get here.

With campuses in Boston, Los Angeles and The Netherlands, Emerson could arrange for students to get paid internships in those cities. Or they could set them up in New York, Chicago or a handful of other major news markets. However, Emerson sees Washington, D.C. as a prime global communications hub. The best location for students to encounter the widest range of communications-related organizations.

The fast paced nature of D.C. is infectious. It makes you want to do more, learn more and be better. You can’t help but succeed when you’re surrounded by such positive influences all the time.

Emerson has partnered with The Washington Center since 2008 because we provide customized world-class professional experiences and extensive industry connections, as well as the individual guidance and care their students need to establish a successful career.

Washington D.C. is simply unmatched when it comes to media and communications opportunities. I had an informational interview with a senator's communications director and made plans to meet journalists with The Washington Post, Fox and C-SPAN.

Our students love the hands-on approach, they excel in the real world and love the opportunity to apply classroom learning...and Emerson students love being where the action is.
