The Washington Center Women’s Empowerment in the 21st Century Seminar

The inaugural Women’s Empowerment in the 21st Century seminar to take place in May 2016 in Washington, D.C. This innovative program is designed for Sonoran women, ages 21-65 who demonstrate a desire and commitment to help others and who are interested in making a difference in their communities.

Hermosillo, Mexico - During the celebration of International Women's Day, The Washington Center, in conjunction with The Advanced Leadership Foundation signed an agreement with the Government of Sonora, Mexico to prepare 50 Sonoran women from all walks of life for personal and professional success. The ceremony was attended by TWC's Senior Vice President and Chief International Officer Pilar Mendiola Fernandez, Sonora Govenor Claudia Pavlovich, Sonora’s Secretary of Education, Ernesto de Lucas Hopkins, and Culture and Mexican Senator Ana Gabriela Guevara.

The Women’s Empowerment in the 21st Century seminar is a one week intensive training seminar taking place this May in Washington, D.C. This innovative program is designed for Sonoran women, ages 21-65 who demonstrate a desire and commitment to help others and who are interested in making a difference in their communities.

The Mexican State of Sonora is making great strides in bolstering the Mexican state’s economy and labor force. Governor Pavlovich’s vision focuses on building Sonora’s emerging industries while investing in innovation and equality of opportunity for all Sonorans regardless of their background. Designed in conjunction with the Governor’s plan for a more inclusive Sonora, this seminar strives to strengthen and inspire Sonora’s women for economic success by providing them with the tools for career mobility and setting them on a course of professional achievement.
