Pre-arrival Advisor (temporary)

The Pre-Arrival Advisor is responsible for managing a portfolio of student participants with the goal to provide excellent service and achieve placement in the interest of enrollment goals. The incumbent must work closely with their student advising portfolio to understand internship interests to identify strong matches between their student participants and available internship opportunities. A successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial, can-do attitude and will skillfully advise and guide students on internship opportunities. This individual is responsible for supporting students throughout the pre-arrival experience, identifying any potential barriers to enrollment. The Pre-Arrival Advisor is a team player that generates solutions and provides excellent service and support to student participants throughout the pre-arrival experience. Ideal start date for the role is mid-December 2021 and the position will run through May 31st, 2022.

This is a 100% remote position. 

Key Job Functions

Student Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of student participants through an advising session and on-going email communications, phone and video calls.
  • Act as the main point of contact and provide excellent service to student participants throughout the pre-arrival experience.  
  • Support students through all parts of the pre-arrival process; including registration for an academic course and housing. 
  • Provide students with support and resources regarding interviewing, living in DC and entering the professional world.
  • Collaboratively revise application materials with the student participant, including resumes, professional interest statements, and supplemental application materials as necessary.  

Student Placement

  • Work in very close collaboration with the Employer Relations team to have a clear understanding of the status of referrals, interviews, offers and placements.
  • Maintain consistent and prompt communication for a portfolio of students on the internship matching process.

Data Management

  • Track and manage student data in CRM, including: application materials, internship preferences and important information that impacts the student participant’s enrollment.
  • Diligent logging and tracking of student participant’s progression in the internship matching process, providing utmost attention to data integrity.
  • racking and following up with students to ensure timely completion and submission of the academic course and housing registrations.

Enrollment and Admissions

  • Review submitted applications according to the admissions timeline, making prompt and thorough admissions decisions.

Required Education and Experience 

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Preferred Education/Qualifications and Experience

  • 1+ years’ experience advising college students and/or career services strongly preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with international student populations a plus
  • CRM and data management experience is a plus
