Why TWC?

It’s not just an internship program, it’s an academic internship experience with a 50-year history of helping undergrad students from all backgrounds successfully transition from college to career. The more than 400 D.C. Metro Area employer partners, from a range of industries, who host TWC interns gain access to a pipeline of engaged and high-performing talent.

The Washington Center:

  • Brings to D.C. between 150 and 300 students every spring, summer and fall from colleges and universities across the U.S. and more than 25 countries, all who are ready to jump-start their professional futures.
  • Empowers students with a career coach before they arrive in D.C., preparing them for interviews and identifying an internship site that aligns with their skills and employer needs.
  • Employer relations managers guide employers through the talent search, onboarding and assessment process, ensuring the right match for your strategic objectives.
  • Provides employers with counsel on job description development, financial compensation strategies, mediates in the unlikely event of intern disputes and is focused on shared success.
  • Provides students with housing, career coaching, academic courses and immersive D.C. experiences so they can focus on professional success.
  • Inspires emerging talent from a range of backgrounds and geographies to become well-informed, professionally focused and empowered with skills for success.

How Do You Benefit?

Whether you host an intern in-person, in Washington, D.C., or virtually, partnering with TWC is a win-win for your organization and the interns.

You save time. We do the legwork in vetting students based on their GPA, major and interests before they are ever shared with employers. TWC now also provides mandatory pre-arrival career counseling, designed to elevate the talent you can access. Pre-qualified students apply directly to you in our employer portal, saving time and resources throughout the interview and onboarding process.

You get support from TWC. You are assigned an employer relations manager who will be your main point of contact and your guide throughout the interview process and during the internship, helping ensure a smooth and rewarding experience for the intern and employer.

You have an opportunity to support intern compensation. Intern hosts are strongly encouraged to compensate their TWC interns, helping to increase access to professional opportunities and give students more options for their D.C. experience.

You get highly motivated, supported and committed interns. Whether you choose to have a virtual or an in-person intern, your organization will bring an infusion of fresh ideas and new perspectives while helping eager college students gain professional experience.
