Senior Coordinator, Federal Programs (Temporary)

The Senior Coordinator, Federal Programs is a key role for delivering on The Washington Center’s mission to provide students with a transformational experience – setting them on a course of achievement and leadership. The person in this role serves as the first line of support for TWC’s interns. This person is responsible for supporting the implementation of paid internship programs at U.S. federal agencies and guiding a highly diverse group of students through a unique professional development opportunity. 

This is a 100% remote temporary, full-time position, with an idea start date of mid-April and runs through approximately mid-August. 

Essential Functions

Student Support & Experience

  • Explain program requirements, milestones, and processes to program participants.
  • Assist with creation and collection of documentation and materials.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and internship sites; conduct periodic check-ins and collect mid-term and final evaluations.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to students, supporting their professional experience and overall progress.
  • Assist with logistics for professional development events and/or workshops including orientation
  • Field questions and provide guidance on academic and program requirements. 
  • Connect participants with relevant resources, as applicable.
  • Communicate to students and agency partners TWC policies including financial assistance and code of conduct. 
  • Ensure all TWC constituents have a positive and beneficial experience.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Client Relations

  • Provide all clients with excellent customer service by answering questions and providing information in a timely manner. Clients may include, but are not limited to: federal agencies points of contact, students, and university/college officials.
  • Provide supervisor with updates on student issues and interactions with agency partners.


  • Distribute, update, and track information in Salesforce, Canvas, ADP, and other online systems.
  • Utilize Salesforce and other tools to produce reportable information on students and internship placements.
  • Utilize technological tools to increase efficiency of program execution (i.e. Smartsheet, Zoom, Slack, etc).

Required Education and Experience 

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 1-3 years’ related work experience 
  • Experience working with students required

Preferred Education and Experience 

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

  • Experience working with college students highly preferred
  • Experience working with the Federal government is a plus
