Reports to: Senior Director, Enrollment & Education Partnerships
Department: Enrollment & Education Partnerships
Salary range: $70,000 – $80,000

The Washington Center (TWC) is a nonprofit organization committed to equitable access to experiential learning. Earned revenue sustains that mission: every student TWC enrolls advances it, and growth in enrollment allows TWC to serve more students, institutions and communities.

The Assistant Director, Education Partnerships leads TWC’s relationships with its affiliated colleges and universities, the channel through which most students reach the Academic Internship Program (AIP), academic seminars and short-term programs. The Assistant Director personally manages a portfolio of TWC’s highest-value partners, including cohort and white-label partners, and leads a team of Partnerships Managers who cover TWC’s other active institutions. The Assistant Director owns enrollment for each institution in the portfolio: student lead generation, partnership conversations that grow each account, and the enrollment goals set for each institution from the enrollment analysis and the state funding available.

The Assistant Director understands TWC’s funding model in depth, including state scholarship eligibility and partner financial arrangements, and uses it to match TWC programs to each institution’s needs. The Assistant Director uses account-based marketing: communicating with partners, prospective partners and their students at scale while tailoring the message and experience to each institution. The Assistant Director uses data to decide where to invest time, and judges every campus visit and campaign by the leads and applications it produces.

The Washington Center is a remote/hybrid organization with most employees working on average one day per week in TWC’s Residential and Academic Facility, conveniently located near Union Station and public transportation in the NoMa neighborhood of Washington, DC. Given our organizational mission focus on skills, workforce development and collaboration, there are times where cross-collaboration among teams and departments will require more than one day per week in the office. The individual in this role is expected to reside in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Essential Functions

Top-Tier Account Management

  • Manage a portfolio of 15–20 of TWC’s highest-value U.S. partners, including cohort and white-label institutions, and secure their enrollment and revenue targets for each program and term.
  • Grow each account or, at minimum, meet the goals set for it by the enrollment analysis and the funding available; track agreement renewal dates so no partnership lapses before a recruiting cycle.
  • Build an annual account plan for each partner covering goals, decisionmakers, funding sources, academic calendar, marketing support and growth opportunities; lead annual renewal and growth conversations.
  • Maintain close relationships with campus liaisons, faculty and administrators, with regular updates on applicants, enrolled students and outcomes.
  • Serve as each partner’s advocate within TWC, coordinating with Employer Relations, Programs and Student Life on cohort needs, students of concern, unresponsive students and issues that arise during the program.
  • Manage memoranda of understanding and partnership terms with the Senior Director and Finance.

Channel Strategy & Lead Generation

  • Translate the Senior Director’s enrollment plan into institution-level lead, application, and enrollment targets across the partner portfolio.
  • Plan account-based marketing for the portfolio with Marketing & Communications: communications at scale to partners, prospective partners and their students, tailored by institution.
  • Plan the team’s annual campus visit and virtual event calendar, prioritizing institutions where in-person presence drives enrollment.
  • Coordinate with Marketing & Communications on school-specific campaigns, landing pages and liaison materials, and supply the institutional knowledge they need, including funding, eligibility and deadlines.
  • Lead the liaison engagement program, including the liaison webinar series and term-by-term communications.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Partnerships Managers, with portfolios aligned by enrollment model (for example, TWC-recruited state-funded institutions and mixed-model institutions).
  • Set goals with each manager, review progress weekly against portfolio targets, and coach on consultative partnership and recruitment practice.
  • Set standards for service, responsiveness, recruitment and CRM accuracy.

Data & Reporting

  • Each week, pull Salesforce application data and review pace against goal and prior years for leads, applications, commitments and enrollment by institution; flag risks and recommend adjustments.
  • Track funded seats by institution and state so that every funded seat is filled; keep a watch list of portfolio institutions with no applications and of lapsed senders to reactivate.
  • Ensure institutional records in Salesforce and HubSpot are accurate and complete, including agreements, funding eligibility, contacts, and visit history.
  • Contribute to annual planning by analyzing partner performance and identifying institutions with growth potential.

Representation & Cross-Organizational Support

  • Represent TWC at campus events and professional conferences (for example, AAC&U and EACE).
  • Support cross-organizational initiatives with portfolio institutions, including fundraising, events, and campus visits to TWC.

Required Education and Experience

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5 years of experience in higher education partnerships, admissions, enrollment or business-to-business account management, including at least 2 years supervising staff
  • Track record of meeting enrollment, sales or revenue targets through a portfolio of institutional or business accounts
  • Working knowledge of recruitment marketing and lead generation, including funnels, conversion and campaign coordination, and account-based marketing that combines outreach at scale with individualized communication
  • Experience pulling and analyzing CRM data (for example, Salesforce reports in Excel or Google Sheets) to track a portfolio against enrollment goals
  • Ability to travel up to 30% and a valid driver’s license

Preferred Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with Salesforce and HubSpot
  • Experience with state-funded scholarship or grant programs
  • Experience negotiating or renewing institutional agreements or client contracts
  • Familiarity with credit-bearing experiential learning programs
