Hometown: York, Pennsylvania
Home University: University of Lynchburg
Major: Journalism
My name is Emily Yinger and I’m a senior at the University of Lynchburg where I work as a campus tour guide! I am weirdly obsessed with the fact that I am from Pennsylvania (the Keystone state has the key to my heart) and am super passionate about news.
My internship at TWC will mark my fifth internship overall! My past internships were all at news sites, including WGAL News 8, The York Dispatch, ABC 27, and ABC 13. I also held a freelance journalism position at The Evening Sun this past summer writing feature pieces. I love news because of the storytelling aspect, which has the ability to help others, uncover the truth, and inform. The most memorable story I had the opportunity to help cover was the Bill Cosby trial in Montgomery County!
I am thrilled to be at TWC this fall as I continue to improve my skills through hands-on experience before entering the workforce. All of my past internships have provided me with a wealth of valuable knowledge that I would never have learned at college and I strongly feel that my internship at Voice of America will do the same. I believe the program at TWC will help mold me into a better-rounded professional and assist me in my transition into adulthood as I learn to navigate the city and work on important life-skills like time management and cooking all of my own meals.
