Hello, my name is Evan Pron. I am from Monroe Township, New Jersey and attend Monmouth University, located on the Jersey Shore. Entering my senior year as a double major in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance and Political Science with a Concentration in Legal Studies, I plan on earning an MBA during a fifth year at Monmouth. I’m interning with the U.S. House Committee on Small Business this summer, which offers a unique opportunity to combine my areas of study in a professional setting.
I see interning in Washington, D.C. as a beneficial experience with rewarding value. I am excited to learn and grow academically and as an individual while taking advantage of every opportunity available as part of and outside of my internship. There are many activities to try in D.C. I intend to not only dedicate my time and effort to interning, but also to acquainting myself with the city and all it has to offer, such as with food, museums and fun events. Living independently is a great lesson, too, as I experiment with different types of food and ingredients while cooking (or rather attempting to cook).
Outside of interning, participating in programs through The Washington Center and cooking, I generally spend my time running, working out and watching baseball. I run cross country and track for Monmouth, so I will either run early in the mornings before my internship or afterwards in the evenings depending on the weather to ensure I can contribute to the team in the fall. Going on runs in an unfamiliar area will provide some clarity and understanding of the many things to do all around D.C. as I explore the city and become more comfortable discovering new places and people.
