Hello, my name is Loren. I’m from Memphis, Tennessee which is basically as far in the lower left corner of Tennessee that you can get before reaching Mississippi. I attend Austin Peay State University where I major in psychological sciences with a pre-medicine concentration. I spend most of my time either reading or studying in my favorite spot on campus, but I love to sit down and watch an episode of “Bates Motel” or spend time with my sorority sisters!
On campus I am involved in the Honors Program, Governor’s Programming Council, President’s Emerging Leaders Program and Pre-Professional Health Society. I am very passionate about helping to spread awareness about mental health, and I tend to be very vocal in trying to find ways to break the stigma.
My internship is in the Counseling and Outreach Unit of the Peace Corps, where I help the psychologists on staff to assist the Peace Corps Volunteers in any way needed. I am very excited to embark on my journey in the city where it all happens, and I am very thankful to TWC for giving me the opportunity to share my journey along with you all!
