State Scholarships

If you attend a school in one of the following states, you may be eligible to receive a scholarship for your TWC Academic Internship Program experience! Here are a few helpful details:

  • If you meet the eligibility requirements, we’ll automatically match you with an an available award - no extra application required!
  • Due to high interest, scholarships are sometimes limited, so we encourage you to submit your application ahead of our deadlines to give yourself the best chance.
  • Eligibility requirements and scholarship amounts for each state are listed below.

Anticipated Award Amounts for 2020

If your state is not listed here, you may be eligible for a private scholarship. We encourage you to visit our Private Scholarships page for more information.

Arkansas

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $7,000 (public institutions) and $4,000 (private institutions)
  • Summer term: $7,000 (public institutions) and $4,000 (private institutions)
  • Fall semester: $7,000 (public institutions) and $4,000 (private institutions)

Eligibility & Rules

You must be a state resident and attend a private or public four-year institution in Arkansas. If you’re interested, we recommend you speak with your liaison, as scholarships are limited.

Delaware

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Summer term: $12,090 

Eligibility & Rules

You must be a state resident and attend the University of Delaware or Delaware State University. Please note that you must use TWC housing in order to receive the full scholarship amount. The scholarship you receive cannot exceed the cost of your participation in the program.

Florida

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $9,000
  • Summer term: $9,000
  • Fall semester: $9,000

Eligibility & Rules

You must attend an institution in the State University System of Florida. Please note, $1,000 of this award is contingent upon your use of TWC housing and comes directly from The Washington Center. Iowa

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $2,000
  • Summer term: $2,000
  • Fall semester: $2,000

Eligibility & Rules

You must attend Iowa State University, the University of Iowa or the University of Northern Iowa. Funding is contingent upon your use of TWC housing and comes directly from The Washington Center.

Maryland

The Honorable Pete Rawlings Washington Center Scholarship Fund

The late Honorable Howard “Pete” Rawlings, member of the Maryland House of Delegates and chair of the House Appropriations Committee, left many lasting legacies of his work, one of which is a scholarship program for selected Maryland students. This scholarship program began in 1999 and was named in Delegate Rawlings’ honor in 2006 for his extensive work on higher education and student civic engagement.

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $9,000 (public institutions) and $2,000 (private institutions)
  • Summer term: $9,000 (public institutions) and $2,000 (private institutions)
  • Fall semester: $9,000 (public institutions) and $2,000 (private institutions)

Eligibility & Rules

You must be a state resident and attend a four-year public or private colleges or university, or a select community college in Maryland. If you attend a public institution, $2,000 of this award is contingent upon your use of TWC housing and comes directly from The Washington Center.

Massachusetts

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $5,000
  • Summer term: $5,000
  • Fall semester: $5,000

Eligibility & Rules

You must attend a four-year public institution in Massachusetts, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be a resident of the Commonwealth. Please note, $1,300 of this award is contingent upon your use of TWC housing and may come directly from The Washington Center, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts or another private donor. If you attend a state system institution, you should also talk with your campus liaisons to find out if you may also qualify for funding through the State University Internship Incentive Program (SUIIP).

Mississippi

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $7,500
  • Summer term: $7,500
  • Fall semester: $7,500

Eligibility & Rules

You must attend Alcorn State University, Delta State University, Jackson State University, Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, Mississippi Valley State University, University of Mississippi or the University of Southern Mississippi. If you’re interested, we recommend you speak with your liaison, as scholarships are limited.

New Jersey

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $1,000
  • Summer term: $1,000
  • Fall semester: $1,000

Eligibility & Rules

If you attend an institution in New Jersey, you’re eligible for these awards! If you attend Stockton University, you are eligible by arrangement with the institution, to receive a $2,550 award for the semester and $1,700 for the summer. All of the awards are contingent upon your use of TWC housing and come directly from The Washington Center.

Ohio

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring Semester/Quarter: $2,300
  • Summer Term/Quarter: $4,000
  • Fall Semester/Quarter: $2,300

Eligibility & Rules

You must be an undergraduate and attend a public or private four-year colleges or university in the state of Ohio.

Pennsylvania

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $7,500 (PASSHE and state-related institutions) and $3,500 (private institutions)
  • Summer term: $7,500 (PASSHE and state-related institutions) and $3,500 (private institutions)
  • Fall semester: $7,500 (PASSHE and state-related institutions) and $3,500 (private institutions)

Eligibility & Rules

You must attend a four-year college or university in Pennsylvania and be a resident of the Commonwealth. If you attend a PASSHE or state-related institution, $1,250 of the award is contingent upon your use of TWC housing and may come directly from The Washington Center, the PASSHE Foundation, or another private donor. Additional funding from a private donor may be available if you attend Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.

Tennessee

Anticipated award amounts for 2020:

  • Spring semester: $6,250
  • Summer term: $6,250
  • Fall semester: $6,250

Eligibility & Rules

You must attend Austin Peay State University, East Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee Technological University, Tennessee State University, The University of Memphis or The University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Please note, $1,250 of this award is contingent upon your use of TWC housing and comes directly from The Washington Center.
