Manager, Marketing and Outreach

Salary Range: $67,000.00 to $75,000.00, Annually

The Washington Center (TWC) Marketing and Outreach Manager develops, implements, tracks and optimizes marketing initiatives for federal internship/fellowship programs that focus on recruiting college students from diverse backgrounds and who have financial need.  The Manager will help drive awareness and generate qualified leads through a variety of marketing and promotional activities, including social media, and will take the lead on providing virtual info sessions (webinars) for students at colleges and universities across the country. The Manager will be responsible for managing all in-person exhibits/tabling events including coordinating all marketing materials and collecting leads. The Manager will have a strong grasp of current digital marketing tools and strategies, excellent writing skills and attention to detail, and excels with technology and analytics. The Manager will help plan, create, execute and manage digital marketing campaigns.

TWC is a majority remote organization: for most employees, employment with TWC will not be contingent on physical presence in an office space. TWC does have some physical space in Washington, D.C. and the individual in this role is expected to live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  

Essential Functions


  • Plan and execute recruitment trips to targeted campuses and/or career fairs (when circumstances are safe to do so) during application cycles, which includes making travel arrangements, mailing materials, communicating with contacts and liaisons, and working to ensure an ideal schedule to maximize travel.  
  • Plan and execute virtual info sessions, which includes coordinating with contacts and liaisons to promote the session, providing electronic materials, coordinating the online platform, etc. 
  • Conduct research on demographics of institutions to identify those with student populations that align with our programs’ diversity goal. 
  • Report on metrics from all in-person events and virtual info sessions. 


  • Monitor and track Google Analytics, report on performance, identify trends/insights to improve performance of paid campaigns and website content.

Webinar Management 

  • Plan and coordinate webinars, including coming up with new webinar topic ideas, coordinating with speakers, and moderating. 
  • Assist in development of PPT slides and webinar promotion.  
  • Follow-up with all leads generated from webinar registrations. 

Social Media

  • Develop and maintain the organic social media calendar and write social posts to organically promote content, drive traffic the website and increase social media engagement.  
  • Work with Communications & Marketing team to create graphics for social posts. 

Writing and Editing

  • Write and manage email campaigns and track email metrics. 
  • Write and edit promotional copy for digital advertising, webinar landing pages, website program pages, print and online brochures, and more. 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Other marketing duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field 
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, including content and digital marketing 
  • Demonstrated experience managing promotional campaigns, including email and social media 
  • Experience coordinating/managing in-person exhibits and tabling and coordinating webinars or virtual events 
  • Experience writing and scheduling social media posts social media posts, writing online advertising copy and email promotional copy 
  • Experience working with marketing automation platforms 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office365 with strong knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint  
  • Experience working in Cloud-based platforms and Microsoft 365 systems, including OneDrive, Teams and SharePoint.  

Preferred Education/Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience using HubSpot, WordPress and Salesforce 
  • Experience working in an agency or nonprofit/educational environment a plus
